Once you have all seen the extraordinary photos of Lake Superior and the environment around it, you will never be able to stop dreaming of being. In the rearmost part of the northern Upper Austria Michigan, the so-called copper country, there are many amazing things to see and experience, but Lake Superior is the epitome of this area of beauty and charm. A large part of this locale is scattered with picturesque villages in the middle of wooded land that you feel you have traveled back to a calmer, more innocent time.

During a stay in this area, there are so many sights to see that there is a whole season to visit them all. Of course there are the “ghost towns”, were once inhabited by coal miners and their families. Old lighthouses are definitely something that should not be missed when you are in Upper Austria Michigan. Waterfalls were never more than reassuring those who are way north of the road.

Some people have wanted to see this part of Michigan have been there with the aircraft because of the long journey to reach. After thinking it over, they realize that a plane ride would be a waste of time to this kind of trip. All pages on the journey into the U.P. are too magnificent to see from the window of a plane.

Spending the night in one of the quaint little cottages on the way to romantic to miss. The night can be a little cool, but you will be cozy and warm in front of the fireplace. If you have the opportunity, make sure you have a Finnish sauna, while in the north. Many of these places are right on Lake Superior with just a few steps to the beach with all the white sand and clean, clear water. Just being able to sit on the beach and smell Lake Superior is both relaxing and exhilarating.

It is not only a casino in the Baraga / L’Anse area of UP, there are Native Americans, have their homemade beadwork, baskets, jewelry and copper available. Near the reservation, there are small shops, where you can buy not only these types of goods, but also there are many books available about the history of the copper country and its people. Seasonal vegetables and fruit stalls are everywhere.

Assuming that you are travelling from Lower Michigan across the Mackinac Straits, you do not want to miss any sites there. Lake Michigan has many places where you can picnic and even some swimming. The beaches along the road are very appealing. There are many tourist shops in this area, a treat for your entire family.

Just travel to the Mackinac Bridge is an unforgettable experience. As you go over the bridge, you can smell the fresh air in the world. If you happen to travel in the night that will take your breath away. During the holidays, the bridge with lights shine. If you are a passenger, you do not want to sleep disturbances by wonderful experience!

If you have not tasted Finnish pies, make sure you stop and pick up some of these to eat on the journey north. Stores advertising the freshest, most delicious smoked fish, venison or buffalo are along the highway from the bridge all the way to Lake Superior. Have you ever tried potato sausage? Oh my, what a treat!

When you travel to the Lake Superior area of Michigan, take some time to enjoy all the sights and sounds and especially the clean air. Remember that the beaches up there will not close, and it costs you nothing to stop beside the road and walk into the cool blue water to swim. If you prefer, you can only walk along the edge of the water in search of beautiful rocks or agates. Stop and eat your lunch in one of the many picnic tables that are available alongside the highway as well as numerous picnic areas.

Whether you travel by car and stop for the night in a cab, drive a motor caravan, drag a pop-up mobile home behind the vans, or plan to do some tent camping, this will be the journey, you talk to your Friends over the years. Take many films for your camera, because they will have tons of pictures for your Memory Books for your travels in the country of Lake Superior.
